Natural Hoof-Care originates from the study of the wild horse hoof. It is from the wild horse that we get our model. Don’t be fooled by the phrase “natural hoof-care”, there really isn’t anything natural about hoof-care., At least not in domesticated horses. In the wild horse however, you will consistently see the same traits in their hooves. Understanding what these traits are and better still why are they there and why are they important to the health of the foot and therefore the horse. This is Natural Hoof-care. Our goal with Natural Hoof-care is to simulate as best as possible what occurs in nature. Our goal is the wild horse model. We may never achieve this goal, however the closer we come to this model in our domesticated horses the better off they will be. We have had and have seen many great successes when it comes to using these methods to rehabilitate problem feet in horses. Founder, Navicular, Laminitus, Flaring, Contracted heels, Run-under heels, Toe-cracks, Thinning of the hoof wall, and Thrush, all of these and many other hoof ailments are affected and can be corrected and/or improved upon with proper Hoof-care. The diet and the environment are also very important factors when rehabilitating problem hooves in horses. Balance, as in life, Is the key to good hoof-care . First and foremost a trim must be balanced . I have personally seen horses with crooked legs, who are toed-in or out, stumbling and many other incorrectness that have been “fixed” simply with consistent balanced trimming. Again, proper diet and environment are just as important in the equation. Whether a horse is bare-foot or shod a balanced trim and proper hoof-care management are the keys to a long, healthy, and productive life for the horse.

Remember, Rehabilitation depends mostly on your commitment and resolve.
